There were two options:
2 item set (15,000yen + tax) - OP in white and tote bagThe items in the sets could not be split or the OP color changed. It was basically a take it as it is situation. This makes it easier for those who would have typically ordered exactly as the set is defined anyway but a little more difficult for those who would only want one or two of the items or a certain colorway with certain accessories.
3 item set (20,000yen + tax) - OP in pink, pouch and charm
Liz Lisa x My Melody special collab 20000yen set in pink (170-0020-0)
☆LIZ LISA×My Melody☆スペシャルコラボ20000円SET
Against my better judgement, although not exactly on a whim, I decided to order the 3 item (pink OP) special set. The pink OP was my first choice between the two colors although I did really like the bordeaux accents on the white which seemed a little more unique and would be great for the upcoming fall season. In the end, I only really went forward with this order because Rebby and I pre-agreed to split the set amongst the two of us, so I could just end up with the OP by itself.
Liz Lisa x My Melody collab special set music OP -
This dress has a lot of details on it! The print theme is music which is shown through the presence of music notes and symbols scattered throughout and also bars and piano keys along the hem. My Melody is shown wearing the dress herself with a violin, piano and a conductor's baton. The top of the shoulder has a ribbon with ruffles that extend along the shoulder on the front and back of the dress on both sides. The back has a lace up detail going back and forth across a generous panel of shirring. The waist is defined with a lace + striped ribbon combination with loose ribbon ends on each side that are functional/tie-able. This is important because the side zipper on the left side of the dress extends past the waist ribbon which requires untying and retying to use the zipper.

The dress fits about as well as free size ever does and is more of a purpley pink IRL than I expected based on the photos. I'm fine with the color but it was definitely less "true pink" than I would have thought. The music theme isn't abundantly obvious if you're not looking at it although the piano keys are a bit of a giveaway once you notice them. With all the details on this dress, it does feel a bit less casual than some of the others in the past, but I'm glad to see all the little choices that were made and think it's really interesting.
Although I was not keeping the accessories, since I was the package recipient, I got Rebby's permission to quickly snap photos of the items before I shipped them to her!
Liz Lisa x My Melody special collab charm -
This is a reasonably standard collaboration item now and it's nice to see the little version of the character wearing the dress! I don't own many of these charms myself (just bought what is likely my first and only one from the 11th collab vol 2) so I can't really do a comparison, but from what I can tell, there wasn't anything unusual about this special set charm!
Liz Lisa x My Melody special collab pouch -
This pouch features My Melody's face/head with the classic floral crown and even includes her ears! It's about the size of a pencil case and is made of faux leather material that has some slight structure. It's super cute but I know that I would never get use out of this type of item myself and I'm happy that Rebby will be giving it a much better home.
I don't have the slightest idea why this special set collaboration was conceived, but it definitely threw me for a loop for a bit - especially when the pre-order and image release were pretty much at the same time. Both sets have retained stock for a while and I don't think either ever sold out in entirety. I'm glad I had a friend who was willing to split the set with me for a reasonable price (for both of us), otherwise I'm pretty sure I would have passed on this completely. It is actually kind of nice to see this dress in person and although it's not the best on me, I'm glad to have it.
the dress looks pretty cute although i can see what you mean by the fit. it definitely wouldn't be as special without all the tiny music motif details, but they did a great job!
ReplyDeleteHaha yeah sometimes the theme really carries the dress!
DeleteThe dress looks really nice - I quite like the piano details on it and I think it's a cute addition to the print (even as a non musical person). I do wonder if the set thing was a good idea - I guess they wanted to try something different for the collab?
ReplyDeleteI suppose maybe it could have worked in their favor but now the items are available individually for those who would prefer it that way!
DeleteOMG, I LOVE that dress! It look so feminine and pretty - maybe in part because you are wearing it - you make that dress look beautiful! I love these photos of you in this dress - such a pretty look!
