Salon Cherie pink/white nails

from their Facebook page
I was so sad that they weren't open 6 month ago, but Salon Cherie has finally reopened after their renovation! I knew I wanted to get my nails done before I went on my trip, and they're just about the right length. I called to schedule an appointment with Anri, the owner (and the nailist who usually does my nails when I go here), but she recently had a new baby and was only doing a couple days a week and wasn't available when I had time. No big deal because I would trust any nail tech in this salon! Mariko san ended up doing my nails :)
I always have such a hard time figuring out what design I want on my nails that it actually ends up stressing me out a little -__-. I think it's just because I pay so much and it lasts for so long that I want to really like it and want to get my "money's worth". I knew that I wouldn't be too disappointed with whatever I left with at Salon Cherie though so I wasn't overly concerned about the quality of the work or generally liking the design, just that I'd have regrets about I should have done this or that instead.
LOL. This was the paper that I brought in with my "ideas". (So embarrassing wtf. S always laughs at these mock up drawings I do ahaha.)

And after a little bit of discussion with Mariko san, this is what I ended up with! -
I think my middle finger on my left hand is a little confusing from this view...lol. It's supposed to be a monogram cursive initial "E" but I didn't really explain that properly and if English is your second language, you probably didn't bother learning cursive (even if English is your first language, most people can't bother with cursive anyway). so I think it a was a little confusing for her and looks a lot like a 3 to others, but from my point of view, it's an E!

Curse my weird, short pinkies :| They make it so hard to take nail pictures...

Individual nails (from left hand pinky to right hand pinky)-

The one picture I managed to take with all fingers and both hands in the photo wtf -

I was having such a hard time photographing both hands at the same time. Tbh, I always have trouble taking photos - so what else is new lol.

Anyway, thank you so much to Mariko san! She worked so quickly and efficiently and didn't seem troubled at all about my design choice and was very patient while I was trying to figure it out lol. I never felt uncomfortable or rushed even though my appointment went a bit beyond their closing time.
Salon Cherie is always my first choice nail salon. Definite recommend if you are in Hawaii!

Sorry there aren't better pictures of this set. Idk what I was thinking
These are mostly a result of my friend trying to be artistic lol

  1. WHOAH YOUR NAILS ARE GORGEOUS. How long do those last? (And about how much did it cost you to get all of that done?) Even though I dislike my nails being weighed down, if I ever go to Hawaii, I'm definitely getting my nails done there! (Oh, and do fancy nails like that with all of the deco items make it difficult to go about your daily activities?) Also...I was wondering why you had a "3" on your finger until I read the comment explaining that...oops.

    1. Haha thank you! Usually 5-6 weeks. I typically get kind of tired of them around the 6 week mark anyway and the length gets to be a little long. This set cost around $108 for gel + design + some 3d pieces on my natural nails (no extensions). Manicures/nail stuff in general is more costly here than on the mainland US for some reason. I don't usually have trouble with 3D things because I expect that they won't fall off and it's just not too new to me, idk lol. If I had to worry about them falling off every time it got caught on something, it would be much more troublesome.

  2. OMG your nails look beautiful!! *_* I especially love the design on the left pinky and point finger. If I ever go to Hawaii, I am definitely going to this salon.
I've wanted to get my nails done for a long while now, but when I finally have them at a perfect length it ends up breaking because I am so clumsy.
(BTW this doesn't relate to this blog post, but I tried out your gradient nail tutorial without the base color. It made my fingers look longer, instead of short and stubby. :3 )

    1. Thank you <3!! I love the left pinky (argyle) and the floral the most as well actually. For some reason, I just really like argyle. I'm actually the same way a lot when it comes to growing out my length and usually get extensions with acrylic as a result but I was lucky this time that I was able to make it to the salon before a break to be able to use my natural nails!
Glad the tutorial was helpful. That's one of the great things about glitter gradients I think!

  4. Ah!! Your nails are so pretty! I don't even know how you came up with such a cute nail design because if I even tried, I'd get super stressed out and also go through the "I regret not doing that" stage as well. I always ask for rounded off french tips because I'm not much of a creative person :P

    1. Hahah. I always have a debate between getting nice hand painted designs (like this) versus having lots of 3d and shiny rhinestones with glitter (like jewelry box nails). It's hard to have both because you don't want to cover the nice hand painted stuff! I usually like more 3d stuff than I got this time, but there's LOTS of hand painted design so it's just as well. Next time, I'll probably opt for a simpler design with more stuff *on* it.

    1. I've been wanting to try to do my own gel nails but I haven't been willing to fork over the money to just get a starter kit.

  7. I love how you carefully planned/designed your nails! I haven't gotten my nails in a while. It's the only way to prevent me from bitting them >.<. I also have a weird pinky. When extending the hand out, my pinky flares up and sticks out lol Anyways, your nails are fabulous! ^0^//

    1. Thank you! I've had them on for almost 6 weeks now, and I still love them! (Although they are quite long, and I will probably soak off the gel soon haha)
