I got suckered in by Facebook ads, what can I say? I also very much expected this to be a positive review, and yet here we are.
Background:
I've been half considering laser hair removal treatments for a while (like from high school 10 years ago when I first heard about it), but never seriously enough to sit down and spend time researching a good local salon for it. Lo and behold, after mentioning it to my bf, Facebook "reads my mind" and I start getting tons of ads for "Hey Silky Skin" which is advertised as at home handheld laser hair removal device.
I read a ton of the Facebook comments (and noticed that the Hey Silky Skin facebook page seemed to be very responsive which I liked), hesitated for weeks and then finally bit the bullet around Mothers Day. The original retail price is $229, but there was a coupon/special and I was able to get it for $179 with free express shipping.
Hey Silky Skin had great communication from time of purchase. I got order confirmation, shipping notification and then also out-for-delivery and delivered updates by email as well. Since this is a somewhat pricey product, I liked that there was a lot of information about when to expect it to arrive. It came in a padded USPS envelope that seemed to secure and protect the product well enough.
The packaging is simple but sturdy and seems thoughtful and indicative of a product that the company cares about displaying nicely. There's just 2 components to it - the handheld laser device and a power cord which make it extremely simple to use.
Using the product:
I read and followed the simple instructions and warnings in the small pamphlet and, after shaving, I was ready to use it.
I started on May 14 with just a few areas on my body to test it out - stomach and left leg (wanted to leave my right leg for comparison) and underarms. On this first day of using it, I tried only Level 1. There is a small heating sensation during the laser blink but it's nowhere near a burning feeling. It took a little while to get adjusted to it, but is not painful.
To use the product, simply plug it on, turn it on (button on the back), adjust the intensity level and then it's essentially ready to use. The big button on the front triggers the light and it will only flash if the entire front area is covered as a safety feature. This is a little problematic for areas like my knee but super easy for flat areas. You need to press the button and move the handset along your body, pressing the button as you go. It's not a continuous laser. As such, it can take a little while to get your entire leg from thigh to ankle compared to shaving.
Feeling a little more comfortable, I decided to try it on my bikini area next on May 15.
I've been shaving in between the weekly treatments and always directly before. I also started increasing the intensity level depending on the area to be between Level 3 for more sensitive areas and Level 4-5 for less sensitive areas although no where does the product mandate that it must be used on the highest level in order to be effective. In fact, it's typically advertised to be "pain free" and that customers should be using the product at whatever level is comfortable for them.
To be clear, I have a skin tone that is acceptable for the laser treatments according to the instructions (equal to or lighter than "Clay 2-3") and the hair that I'm targeting is black, so I'm not trying to use it on blonde or light brown hairs.
Discontent:
After my 7th treatment (week 7), I realized I wasn't seeing any of the results I saw discussed on the thousands of comments on their sponsored Facebook ads - most of which mentioned seeing results in as early as 2-3 sessions. Remembering the "90 day 100% money back guarantee" logo on the website, I went back to check for it and just saw the "shop now" button at the bottom of the page.
Since the initial order email from the company said "Feel free to send an email to us at Hey@HeySilkySkin.com if you have any questions at all or just want to say hey :)" I figured I would do just that since the website wasn't giving me the answers I wanted.
Their reply was simply that they don't accept returns on used products for sanitary reasons (completely understandable) and that the 90 day money back guarantee could only be processed if their guidelines are followed in full, directing me to the Hey Silky Skin homepage (http://www.heysilkyskin.com/) which I had already visited.
I figured there must be something I missed there, but scrolled down the homepage and saw only the message that if you're "not happy? no problem". Looking around more, I found the the side menu which is hidden by default, and there was the Money Back Guarantee page which had a list of guidelines you had to follow including emailing them on the day your order arrives.
Of all of these guidelines, of course I missed this and would never typically email a large company after receiving an order on my own.
I reread through the home page to see how I could have made this mistake since I'm usually very cautious about making large $ amount purchases. It seems like there's no obvious link to the money back guarantee page despite numerous mentions of it when "shopping" for the product.
I emailed customer service again just for clarification. They confirmed that nothing could be done and they just encouraged me to continue to use the product as I may not see "complete results" for 12 weeks based on the 4 stages of hair growth.
Let me tell you. It's now been 13 WEEKS of consistent use of the product and I have still yet to see ANY, even minor results, much less "complete results" on any of the body parts I tried (leg, bikini area, underarms, stomach). I know this for a fact because I used my right leg as a control and the hair on my left leg (which received the treatment) is in exactly the same state. I would have thought maybe at least the fine hair on my stomach would have been affected, but even that is still stubbornly growing in as usual.
Please believe me, especially after hearing that I was not eligible to get my money back, I desperately wanted this product to work so I've been extremely diligent in following the instructions and staying on the schedule. And yet, here I am, still needing to shave every couple of days and basically just flashing light on my body for no reason.
Bottom line: Long story short, this product does NOT WORK and the Money Back Guarantee is not automatically built into your purchase! Please learn from my mistake and do not purchase this item. Or if you do, at the very least, please go to the Money Back Guarantee link (<-- here, I'll directly link you since it seems the company won't go out of their way to ensure you can access it easily) and follow the instructions to opt in.
Note: I did try to leave this product a 1 star review using the email they sent me as a customer, but it doesn't seem to have been published (yet). When I try to submit again (in case it did not process correctly), I get a "Review has already been submitted" message so I know it was received. I have DM'd the company on Facebook (claims to respond within 2 hours but haven't heard back in over a day).
I don't usually like to write blog posts to complain about bad products, but since it seems they won't accept my direct review of the product, I figured this was my only way to share my piece.
UPDATE (March 2020) - After publishing this blog post, I ended up continuing to use the product weekly (once a week which is the recommended interval) until the 25th week. That's 25 treatments total and I saw absolutely no results. In fact, I can say now, months later, that the hair in some of the areas I treated (like my stomach) has increased from what I started with which is super annoying.
Since I had paid for the product through PayPal, I tried to file a claim as a comment had recommended but, in the end, PayPal ended up siding with the vendor and I did not receive any of my money back. To reiterate, I really gave this product a fair shot and it DOES NOT WORK.
Urgh, it sucks that the product didn't work and they seem to have been very crafty with their wording/site navigation -_-' very suspicious lol. I really want to try laser one day too, at least I know this one isn't a good option now~
ReplyDeleteTbh, it would be one thing if the product just didn't work, but the fact that they won't publish my honest review as a verified buyer is really annoying and shady to me.
DeleteI have one and mine works amazingly. You still have to shave in between uses. You can not use it on dark skin tones. Of you went and had laser treatment at a salon they would advise you shave before coming. This advises you to do the same. My is awesome. It ok was skeptical. I have seen at least a 50% reduction of hair on my upper lip and chin. I am European so we grow hair which I hate!!!!!!!! I did find I needed to use it 2-3 times a week and not the once a week that they recommended
DeleteThank you for your comment. Unfortunately it seems like you are in the minority here. If you haven't had a chance to read my full review, I also shaved before each use (I had to - my hair never stopped growing back) and I have a skin tone in the accepted range. I did not use the product more than once a week as the reps specifically told me that using the product more often than that would be counterproductive. I strongly believe in following the recommendations for a product.
DeleteI have only received professional laser treatment at a salon. I did 10 treatments on very troubled areas. It worked. I went on holiday to Europe and had more treatments there the pain was almost zero. Also I didn’t have to shave. I’ve purchased at home hair removal products before and threw them out. Ladies please save your coin and get it done at a salon.
DeleteI recently purchase this and after 3 months this is not working any more. Wish I had seen this review beforebuying it.
DeleteSame here. Purchased it in October. 9 uses later its stopped working. The machine gets on but it doesnt zap anymore. Also - havent seen any improvement in those 9 weeks of weekly usage.
DeleteThankyou Emmichan,
DeleteI almost bought the product too as I have received laser treatment from a salon before and was really happy with the results. Unfortunately, everything was put to a stop because of COVID. So I thought I'd get one of these home laser devices. Came across heysilkyskin and had even gone upto checkout but then thought would read reviews. I started with a site called trustpilot which has good reviews and only a handful of complaints mostly about 90days return.
But then came across your blog, such detailed and everyone's input in it saved me from looking any further.
Mind you guys while I was reading reviews I got a message from heysilkyskin offering me a discount.. lol.. so I replied I'd like read reviews first and they replied with ' Truly understandable! You can check our real reviews on our website :) You can now use a discount at checkout to get an additional $25.49 off your order and if you want to pay in installments with no interest.' Lol
Anyway, thankyou for the warning and I really hope your return gets sorted.
On a side note, @ Child and Youth Counselor... you mentioned the product you are using is effective, do you mind sharing with us which one are you using please?
Thankyou.
Useless machine. Used once and won't work anymore at all!???
DeleteThe company is insisting on numerous videos showing steps taken, which I have done, but still no resolution!!?
I also purchased this product and went by all the instructions but didn’t notice any difference. It now does even light up. Very disappointed.
DeleteWow, suss. :( It sounds like they're altering their comments to adjust their rating which is super suss. it sucks that such an expensie item is totally useless
ReplyDeleteIf you bought it through paypal for your payment process, you might be able to get a refundthrough them?
I'm looking into it - thank you!
DeletePaypal won't help you at all. As far as they are concerned, you authorized the payment and that's as far as they get involved. They do not get involved in fraud protection at all. Just now, I filed a complaint through econsumer.gov, because I'm so annoyed at this scam! Customer service acted like they wanted to help me, I got a defective unit that flashes when not pressed to anything, which is a huge safety concern! But the second I asked for my money back they stopped talking to me. Which is completely illegal because I did read the fine print and I did send the money back guarantee email When it arrived!
DeleteHi Emi,
ReplyDeleteIf you paid with a credit card, you likely would be able to dispute the charge with your card company within 6 months of the purchase. Per credit card guidelines, return policies must be detailed somewhere within the checkout process in order to be enforceable... the obscure and rather deceptive return procedure you described will not stand up to a dispute, regardless of anything the company says.
If you used a debit card or bank payment (such as through Paypal), you may be able to get your funds back as well, although it may not be as simple as with a credit card. Historically, credit cards companies tend to immediately and unquestionably side with their customer (you), and although you may get more questions from a bank if you paid that way, you have legitimate grounds to dispute the payment.
Here is what you should do:
1. If you paid with a card, call your card company with the number on the back. Get through to a representative and tell them that you would like to dispute a payment. If you paid with a bank transfer payment, do the same thing with your bank.
2. Give them the date and amount of the charge. Explain to them that the merchant offered a 90 day return policy and refused to accept a return at day 50 or whatever it was. There is no need to mention the details of their return policy unless they ask any further, and you should simply stick to the fact that they refused to honor a return within the window.
3. The card company should at this point reverse the payment. You should not return the product unless your CARD COMPANY directs you to, which they will most likely not do. Silky Skin has the option of providing a rebuttal to the dispute, but they would be required to provide proof that you were given and agreed to the exact return policy during the checkout process. This is an open and shut case that should be found in your favor.
During the whole process, remain factual in any communications with your card company or Silky Skin. If you decide to dispute the payment, there is no need for you to respond to any direct messages from Silky Skin if they contact you.
Sorry for the long read, but I would encourage you to follow through on this, as there is no place in the business world for blatantly deceptive practices like this. There are protections for consumers in this type of situation, and you should not feel bad about using them.
Good luck.
Hi Emi,
ReplyDeleteAs an side note to the previous comment, if you paid through Paypal, you should try to file a dispute through them first before going to your card company. Paypal may request that you return the item, and you should do so with signature confirmation because of the dollar amount (USPS is cheapest).
If a dispute with Paypal does not work, you still have the option of disputing with your card company.
Sorry it took me a while to get to the computer, but I got your comments right after you submitted them. Thank you so much for the advice! It's really helpful.
DeleteEmiii,
ReplyDeleteI bought the product 2 weeks ago and really wish I would have seen your post before purchasing. Please tell me that you continued using it and you hardly grow hair now. Did you end up getting a refund from the company, the bank or did you just keep it?
Thanks for your post!
Angie
Hey there! Sorry this comment is so delayed. I posted a response earlier but I guess it didn't publish!
DeleteUnfortunately, I don't have much good news. I continued using it for over 25 weeks and then finally gave up after not seeing any results. I tried giving it to my mom but she didn't really want to waste time on it either. I now have more hair in some areas than before annoyingly.
I did file a paypal claim but they sided with the seller and I did not see any money back. I hope you have a better experience than I did!
Actually I have a similar one, but not from HeySilkySkin. Hair on my pits are completely gone, but I think it took me 2 months but I have very thick hair. I did this on some parts of the bikini area and it worked as well. I had been quite consistent, either zapping every week or every 2 weeks, usually every week (don't remember). Need to be consistent, if not the hair follicles will recover and hair grows back again. Need to shave first so that the light hits the hair follicles. Also, I use intensity 4 or 5. It will not work at 1I've been to laser clinics before and it was painful, more painful than intensity 5, but that is also how I got the idea that it will only work at high intensity, at least for me.
DeleteWhat product do you have that works?! Would love to try!
DeleteAny company that doesn't post contact info or address on their website is more then likely a scam. And always best to purchase with paypal, from my experience, paypal will file a dispute against the company and get your money back. Too many people scamming innocent others!!
ReplyDeleteI purchased with PayPal, filed a dispute and PayPal sided with the vendor. I did not receive any money back.
DeleteThank you for your feedback.
Thanks for this review! When I saw this ad on instagram for this same product for 99 dollars, my mind was like :O
ReplyDeleteI did do some digging, as I usually do, and found your review and also some other nice information I thought I would share that might not have been available to you when you purchased this.
I did a simple google search, and found some other products online that look exactly like "HeySilkySkin" called "Happy Skin Co" "Rose Skin Co IPL" "Kenzzi IPL" "Silk'n Infinity Hair Removal" ...etc "SmoothSkin Bare" doesn't look exactly the same (it's black with a gold stripe)...but you get the point. All look like knock-off versions of each other. Products range from 99 dollars (the same sale price I was advertised) to over 300 dollars. Unfortunately, facebook and instagram have no real way of discerning fake products it seems. I've seen too many "advertised" products like this that are mass produced with different names. Like that one teeth whitening kit all the instagram people were advertising a while ago, Hi Smile or something to that effect.
There is a product by Braun called Braun Silk Expert that actually looks like a well-made version of the product you bought, with a more professional looking design. This might be the "original" product that all of these knock-off ones are trying to emulate. However and weirdly enough, seems most if not all the reviews were "part of a paid promotion."
I wish I had better information to give you on what would work. I'm still holding out hope I won't have to pay thousands of dollars on laser hair removal one day. lol
Stay safe out there <3
Thanks for the info and thanks for commenting! I gotta say, I was REALLY swayed by all the positive facebook comments on their posts - I really trusted those for some reason :|
DeletePlus at the price they were listing, I figured that this wasn't the cheapest Wish knock off (but obviously that wasn't the case). I also thought paying by PayPal would help me but that certainly didn't pan out in the end! All around, it's certainly a lesson learned and I'm just hopeful that no one else gets ripped off which is the reason I posted.

ReplyDeleteI filed a dispute with PayPal once and they also sided with the vendor. HOWEVER, PayPal is linked to a credit card or debit card or bank! I then called the bank and disputed. They told me “did you try PayPal and I told them they weren’t helpful. And guess what? The bank helped me! Got my money back. Suck it PayPal!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your experience! Unfortunately in my case, I paid for the item with a PayPal balance (not bank or credit card) so I was SOL personally.
DeleteHey it's sucks the product didn't work and you weren't able to claim the money back. They do have a clear link in their menu bar for the guidelines for the money back guarantee so I do believe it is quite open about their process
ReplyDeleteFile a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. That always scares companies because it is a business rating. I've done it before for a couple situations like yours and always got my money refunded. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI too have been using this for about 4 months on my thick course facial/chin hairs. No results and getting worse. Product is horrible....do not buy!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. I almost bought it till I saw your blog.
ReplyDeleteOmg great thing i found this. I almost bought it! Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteGood god, thank you so much for this! I almost bought one today after having FB and Insta spam me with this product for the last couple of weeks! I skimmed through their FB comments and 95% of them were positive. I’m so glad I decided to do a google search first and found this. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this!
ReplyDeleteHow I wish I stumbled upon this blog before I clicked the check out button. Unfortunately, I did, and I have been waiting for almost 2 months to received the item. Not sure what would be the best thing to do now, whether, will I just wait for it or request for dispute to my card company. T_T
ReplyDeleteI would think it's best to dispute with your credit card company ASAP. Tbh my product arrived within a week. 2 months is a pretty long time and the product doesnt really work anyway. Good luck!
DeleteThanks for the advice, Emiichan! I think I will just do what you said. I will update if my dispute request is successful. Will try to also paste your blog link so that other people will be aware of this! hahahaha
Delete* in the HeySilkySkin advertisement posts comment section as well as in the TrustPilot Review Site :)
DeleteHoping for the best for you!
DeleteUGH I wish I had read this sooner. I ordered and paid for it and 30 mins after I saw some negative reviews on youtube. It hadnt even been shipped out—likely barely even processed yet, so I emailed them to cancel my order. Figured it would be easy since I literally purchased it 30 mins or less prior to sending the email. I got that same auto response from “allie linke” and I waited 2 days... then they emailed me—saying my order had been shipped out.
ReplyDeleteI emailed them about 5 more times in 3 weeks but nothing. I contacted them on IG and told them they must be a scam—surprise surprise, someone finally replied “guaranteeing” me that they are a “reputable company”. But once I replied again saying I wanted my money back, they just said the order was on it’s way. Complete and utter SCAM. Cant believe I fell for it. Really hope more honest reviews like yours becomes published. Now I see why theyre all on peoples websites or youtube channels. The company filters their reviews. UGH
Odd that they were quite unresponsive to emails, but I guess considering the content of yours, I wouldn't put it past them. Hope you can resolve this with the "money back guarantee" once you receive it!
DeleteI wish I saw this before I bought the product. They never answered any of my emails. It took a month and a half for the product to get to me and i wanted to return it the day I got it in. I tried to email them again and they still didn't respond so I facebook messaged them and i got through but they are not helping me at all. I'm going to try to call my credit card company today and hopefully I can get my money back.
ReplyDeleteIts my second week of using this and the light is not working/flashing anymore! I dont know what happened! I’m so disappointed cause ive waited this for 2 months and this is what ive got
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your honest review. I've always been sketched out by Facebook advertisements. Also, it really is such a coincidence that you talk about a product you want and then it magically pops up in ads. I agree that sometimes people will receive a bad product and it could just be the one you bought, but the fact that they wouldn't even let you return or exchange is a big deal. They seem to really want to satisfy their customers until you want your money back... 🙄 I'm still searching and reading REAL reviews for a decice that will work and not scam me.
ReplyDeleteOops, I meant "other real reviews." Didn't mean to make it sound like yours wasn't lol
DeleteNo problem! I understood what you meant! Hope you can find a good product soon.
DeleteThank you sooo much for this review. I was really thinking about it. There was a promo..Good (super fake) reviews..And then I digged a little more and found you. Thank you so much for saving many people's wallets and overall, high hopes. Thank you so much <3 I hope you can either get some money back or at least a good option in the future.
ReplyDeleteI had hesitated to write such a negative review, but I'm glad that it's helping other people. I felt like it needed to be out there somehow since they refused to publish my 1star review on their actual website.
DeleteI'm glad I stumbled upon yr review. Heysilkygirl's ads keep popping up on FB and I have to admit, after a while, I was swayed by the tonnes of positive reviews and cheap price.
ReplyDeleteYes cheap... Relative to the expensive laser treatments I have been doing at salons, and just 1/4 of what Braun and Philips are charging for their ipl handhelds. Not too cheap compared to Taobao items which are dubious in nature.
But... The sheer number of "positive reviews" seemed suspicious so I googled HeySilkyGirl. Thanks for sharing and confirming it's a dud product and saving others from heartache!
I was also wooed by Instagram and today on my 4th use of the laser, IT STOPPED WORKING. It was the first time I used it at more than level 3 and it seems something is wrong with the bulb. It looks like its melted. I actually did feel it was doing something albeit slowly. Very disappointed, but I will try to get a replacement as I felt something was actually happening. The growth was slower and finer when coming in. I'll keep you updated.
DeleteThank you so much, I about to purchase it, cause all the comments on FB are so realistic that on a blink of an eye you will believe. Thanks God the I saw this section before purchasing the items.

ReplyDeleteI am so glad that I saw your review before purchasing! Facebook has been spamming me for ages with their advertisement and I was just about to buy it. Really shows how persistent these ads are. The comments section of the ad made it seem so legitimate, like it was the real deal and that people were getting actual results from this product... Your blog was at the top of my Google search for the heysilkyskin handset review. I wish more people would see this and stop getting scammed :(
ReplyDeleteMay be it doesn't work for blonde hair
ReplyDeleteHi, thank you for your comment. The vendor has said that the laser works best when there is contrast between the hair color and skin color (so it doesn't work as well on fair colored skin and light/blond hair and cannot be used on darker skin tones).
DeleteHowever, as I stated in my post, my skin tone is within the accepted range and I have dark (almost black) body hair.
"To be clear, I have a skin tone that is acceptable for the laser treatments according to the instructions (equal to or lighter than "Clay 2-3") and the hair that I'm targeting is black, so I'm not trying to use it on blonde or light brown hairs."
Hi Emiichan, I wish I read your post sooner. I already used it for several weeks and got no results. They are suck, wasting time, and make us shave more (which is also resulting the hair to grow more).
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteMANGOCITYIT.COM .I recently found many useful information in your website especially this blog page. Among the lots of comments on your articles. Thanks for sharing. Buy Trustpilot Reviews
Google reviews for sale Love to read it,Waiting For More new Update and I Already Read your Recent Post its Great Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had seen your review before I was suckered in. The company obviously does not care for its customers or stand behind their product.
ReplyDeleteHi Emii, thanks for this really honest and well-detailed review. It was very useful. Just a question though, after trying this product, did you go for other ones too? Have you found any IPL home devices that work? Hope you can recommend one because I also have hairy arms and legs. TT_TT
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your honest review!
ReplyDeleteSaw the FB ads & there are many comments of 'legit users' which sounded convincing & a few are too good to be true (instant result can be seen in 2 days? Nonsense).
Thanks so much for saving many of us from being victims of this fraud product! ❤
I replied to an IG comment asking if the product leaves red marks on the skin. I posted a photo of the red marks on my daughters leg. (She still has the red marks 3 weeks after using it) The photo and the original question that was posted, and the original posters response to my photo/comment were all deleted.
ReplyDeleteThe product is advertised falsely.
Its a big waste of money, but also a big waste of time.
Try contacting the better business bureau. They will contact them and mediate for you! Also, it's shady to not post the review, I think the better business bureau would be intrigued! I've used the better business bureau before, it's free and I got my money back.
ReplyDeleteI just left my comment below and had a mess going through the process of getting refund. I googled the better business bureau but link was forbidden. May I know how/where you file the complaint previously? thanks
DeleteHi sorry to spam your blog but I just would like to share my experience as other website and platforms seem not trustworthy at all.
ReplyDeleteBEWARE OF 90 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE
Guys , be very careful with the brilliant "90 day money back guarantee" that this company claimed on their website, it's not so straight forward & very tricky.
It's truly my WORST experience to deal with their customer service Representative.
I have made a purchase on Nov 26 and decided to cancel the order just 35 minutes after I placed the order. In about 7 hours later I received a reply that the order has been packed and was already on the way. On the return part , I was told the following:
"Once you receive it, you may return your order for a *refund. To arrange a refund, please contact us once you take delivery of the item and we will provide you with further instructions and a return address.
*This refund is minus the initial real postage fee already incurred, regardless if this was noted a free at checkout, and our Handset must be returned via a fully trackable mail service, please see the real postage fee cost list below which will be deducted from the total."
Shipment was delayed for days as promised on website. So I emailed them asking for return instructions right after I received. Since there was no specific conditions mentioned by them in previous email, I also opened it to have a trial as I thought it's covered by 90 days guarantee. However it's rejected by them as I have opened the box. Note: every email correspondence is almost 12 hours later due to time zone differences.
My request to return under the 90 day guarantee was also rejected as they claimed I did not follow the steps, which is to send a blank email on the day of delivery. Despite I have already raised my intention to return this product SEVERAL times since the day I placed order and the correspondence is on-going, so it's weird that i have to send an initial blank email to the SAME email address just to inform them i would like to join the risk free trial??? I was not even informed by them to send out the blank email in order to join 90 Day Money Back Guarantee as soon as I sent them the photo where the package was opened. So how am I supposed to know what is the correct action to take in order to return when all I did was follow their instructions! They could have helped to direct me to the correct procedure once I sent the package photo and yet, she did not even explain that.
Confusing instructions & statements from the customer service rep. delayed shipment. not helpful services. There are many other better & cheaper products with greater after sales services out there , so THINK TWICE before you click the purchase button.
Thank you for this review. I was considering buying this product after seeing it on a facebook add. Obviously i am now not considering it any more :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this honest review, also to all the others who put their experience on the comments. You saved me the $100 and the copious amount of headache of being diligent and not having it work. I do have a question, were you able to find any which actually worked? Like the ones from the reputable companies like philips and barun?
ReplyDeleteI purchased this product in March of last year, so it has been almost a year and at first I did notice a huge change the first couple weeks, but now that it has been almost a year (its Jan 26, 2021 now) I was expecting better results to be honest. I must say, my underarm area does look better as it did before I started the treatments I don't have that dark spot under there anymore, but I thought after using it for 8 months it wouldn't grow back and just as thick perhaps as it did before. It grows back in just the 3rd day :( And my leg hair...well i was expecting better results by then...kinda disappointed. I am still having a little hope if i keep using it as consistently as I am right now I'll start seeing better results in the future.
ReplyDeleteGood job with this. I look forward to reviews like these instead of the paid testimonials on the website!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments. I just want to buy this shitlieproduct. because the laser cost is 4k for 7 session. when i read yours comments... I think, there have lots scam products for woman beauty. So becarefull
ReplyDeleteI purchased this and got a device that does not work. When I contacted support they blocked me. Wow. I’m so frustrated I did not see this before making that transaction...
ReplyDeleteThank you!!

ReplyDeleteWhat should I do with hair😩😩
ReplyDeleteI think there are some issues here with how you're using the machine. With IPL you shouldn't be shaving AT ALL (ONLY the first time so that you don't have long hair when you use it.) You should be using this kind of laser treatmebt once every 4 weeks and the hair should grow out and fall out. If you are trying to zap when you have long hair, it will not work as the laser energy has to travel down the entire hair follicle instead of getting straight to the root where it needs to be directed. Lastly, IPL will cause heat in your skin and at your hair roots, which can actually stimulate hair growth. To counter-act this, you need to cool down e.g. sit in a cold bath, have a cool shower or apply a cool wet towel to the treated area for at least 10 minutes. I hope if you do this that you will see you results improve since you had to keep the machine.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this review. I was just about to make an order after seeing it on ig and Fb ads cuz it was much cheaper than the amount it costs for me to go for salon treatments. Just to be on the safe side I searched the brand on google and came across this post. Thank you so much for saving us from disasters when you are already at a disadvantage from it. Really appreciate it
ReplyDeleteThanks for saving my wallet, I was completely swayed by the cunning advert they make on Facebook. I was just about to fill in my card details when my husband prompted we do a little digging .behold we came across your blog, thanks for saving my wallet .
ReplyDeleteThaaanks so much for your review I was looking online and it seemed odd to me that the reviews I found were too recent and too good to be true and the few negative ones did not detail much. This truly helped making a decision!

ReplyDeleteDo not buy from Heysilkyskin - bad quality and no response from customer service
ReplyDeleteI bought this in August 2021 and the machine started to turn off as soon as I turn on and now won’t even turn on. It’s only been 4 months!
I emailed customer service at Hey@HeySilkySkin.com to request for resolution and sent a few follow up emails and NO RESPONSE. I messaged their page on Instagram and the first response was “we did not receive an email from your email address”. After I sent screen shot of my emails they simply responded “ you will get a response if you emailed”. When i tried to follow up again on instagram a week later they simply ignored me.
I’ve read quite a number of other users who have the same issue with not getting a response if the product was faulty and no one ever got their money back with their “90 day money back”.
I will lodge a compliant with Australia’s ACCC, Fair Trade and ASIC.
Damn I wish I seen this, I just received one today
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this honest review, also to all the others who put their experience on the comments.

ReplyDeleteFirstly, your comprehensive breakdown of the product's features versus its performance in reality sheds light on the discrepancies many users might not be aware of until after purchase. It's an important reminder that marketing materials can sometimes paint a rosier picture than what the actual user experience delivers.
ReplyDeleteFor marketing your product you may get verified account from here.
However, I believe it's also crucial to consider individual variations in skin and hair type, which can significantly influence the effectiveness of such devices. While "Hey Silky Skin" may not have met expectations in your case or for certain users, there might be others who found satisfactory results. Highlighting this variability could provide a more nuanced perspective to your readers.
Moreover, the discussion on customer service experiences and the return policy is exceptionally valuable. Potential buyers need to understand not just the product but also the support system behind it. A company's responsiveness and flexibility in addressing customer concerns are often as important as the product's quality.
In addition to critiquing, perhaps suggesting alternative products or methods that have proven more effective or reliable could offer a constructive next step for those still searching for suitable at-home hair removal solutions. Sharing insights on what to look for in these devices, based on your experience and research, would greatly benefit readers making such decisions.
Lastly, your passionate call to action and the urging for readers to conduct thorough research before making a purchase is commendable. It's a reminder of the power and importance of informed consumerism, especially in an age where new products are constantly being marketed with bold promises.
In conclusion, your review serves as a crucial cautionary tale for potential buyers, highlighting the importance of skepticism and due diligence in the face of persuasive marketing. It also opens up a broader conversation about consumer rights and the need for transparency and accountability from brands. Thank you for sharing your experience and insights, as they undoubtedly contribute to more informed decision-making among your readers.
